Michael D. Heist

Michael D. Heist, 85, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Pauline (Shiffer) and William Heist.

Michael was a 1958 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School and later attended Franklin & Marshall College. He dedicated 50 years to the material handling industry and was the proud owner of M.H. Equipment of PA.

He was a longtime member of St. John's and St. James Episcopal Church. Michael enjoyed taking golfing trips to Myrtle Beach and the Poconos. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan and enjoyed following his favorite teams.

Michael is survived by his son, Peter Heist, partner Holly Garner, both of Millersville. He is also survived by his former wife, Sally E. Dirks, of Millersville.

A private burial will be held at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
