Martha Elizabeth Sims, 81, a retired law firm administrator and paralegal and accomplished artist and sculptor, passed away early Monday morning, July 27, 2026. She was a resident at Trillium Place in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Born in Tampa, Florida, Martha was the youngest of four daughters of Flora and Bill Sims. Martha grew up in Lake Wales, Florida and as an adult had also lived in Tampa and Tallahassee; Leesburg, Virginia; and Athens, Georgia. She was a graduate of Lake Wales High School and the University of Central Florida. She devoted most of her professional career as the indispensable administrator and paralegal of both the Gibson Law and Connor Law Firms. Martha also created many works of art and was known particularly for her intricate bronze figures, some of which were inspired by her travels to places such as Alaska and South America.
Preceding Martha in death were her parents, her sister Norma Withington and her daughter Cindy, her sister Faye Brown and her husband Vance, and her sister Billie Ebanks and her husband Larry and son Larry, Jr. Martha is survived by her son David McDaniel and his wife Andrea; a grandson, Devin McDaniel; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her devoted friend Damon Myers and his husband Efrem Magtagnob. All the many relatives and friends who knew and loved Martha will cherish the memory of her kindness, thoughtfulness, intelligence, curiosity, talent, and love of animals, with special joy recalling wonderful times by the lake at “The Shrine.”
A Celebration of Martha’s life is planned for Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00AM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St, Lancaster, PA 17602
