Mark Huntley departed this earth on February 3, 2026, at the age of seventy-one. He was born in Heidelberg, Germany, where his father was a career officer/chaplain in the Armed Forces, though his family moved to many army bases throughout his childhood. He attended Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, New York, where he played basketball with Bernard King and had a scar on his chin to prove it. Mark graduated from Syracuse University Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in American and English history and received his MBA from Penn State.
Mark worked in banking for many years, where his final job was CEO of Artisan’s Bank in Delaware. He took great pride in giving to and helping others – especially granting loans to small and local businesses so the people in the communities he worked for could thrive. He once denied Donald Trump a loan.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jeff, and his beautiful daughter Lauren. He is survived by his wife, Susan, whom he was married to for fifty-one years; his two twin sons, Andrew and Ryan, and Andrew’s wife Autumn; his sister Becky and her husband Dan; their two daughters, Meghann and Kate, their husbands Eddie and Jake; and his grand-nieces Addy and Emmy, whom he absolutely adored and got a kick out of. He loved spending time with them and learning about the activities in their lives.
Mark was never one to brag about himself, though one of his greatest gifts was being there and helping those around him, as well as recognizing that each one of us is special and unique. This is how he lived his life and should be remembered. He was a wellspring of wisdom, a leader, a fighter, an advocate for those around him, and a friend to many. He had his opinions, which he never held back, though he was always able to find a middle ground with whoever he talked to.
He was an insatiable reader and lover of the outdoors. Anyone wanting to give a gift in his memory should consider contributing a memorial donation to their local library or donating to Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Mark’s family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 with The Rev. Will Stenke officiating, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Road, Lancaster, PA 17601. Interment will be private.
