Mark P. Erb

Mark P. Erb, 72, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026. Born and raised in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William B. and Faye R. (Brooks) Erb.

After graduation from Lancaster Catholic High School, Mark went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from St. Joseph’s University. Professionally, he spent over 40 years as a supervisor at Jason’s Clothing Store. Mark was also devout in his faith, being a longtime member and resident organist of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church. If he was not at work or at Church, you could find him in the kitchen cooking, in his garden tending to his zinnias and wisteria, or cozied up with a sci-fi or fantasy novel. Whether you knew him as “Mark,” “Captain,” “UM” or “Uncle Mark,” or “Marcus Firerider,” there was no doubt that he was a wonderful man who will be dearly missed.

Mark is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Moore (Dennis Williams); his niece and nephews Matthew Moore, Ross (Jill) Moore, Megan Moore, and Colin Moore; great-niece and great-nephews James, Owen, Noah, Madalyn, Jack, and Eric; and his best friends Toni and Glenn Quinn. He is preceded in passing by his parents; and his sister Julianna Erb.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 PM on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 501 E Orange St, Lancaster, PA 17602. The family will receive guests beginning at 11 AM. Mark will be laid to rest at Saint Mary’s Catholic Cemetery privately at the convenience of the family.
