Marilyn Y. Herr

Marilyn Y. Herr, 96, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2023.

Born on July 1, 1929, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel Young. Marilyn was the beloved wife of the late Elvin W. Herr, who passed away in 2016.

Marilyn graduated from Millersville University with a degree in library science. She worked as a librarian at Donegal for some years and was a devoted homemaker and accomplished seamstress, who found great joy in caring for her family. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was actively involved in church life, including teaching preschool, supporting the library and volunteering for many years. She was also an excellent cook, winning numerous local awards in those areas over the years.

She is survived by her children: Douglas Herr; Don Herr and his wife Greta; and David Herr and his companion Joan Sterling. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nate Herr and Elly Herr, along with extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to a viewing on Saturday May 2, 2026, from 10:00 to11:00am at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street PA, 17584, a burial will follow at Riverview Burial Park. A memorial service will be held following burial at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 31 S Duke St #1, Lancaster, PA 17602, at 2:00pm. A light lunch will be served at the church thereafter.

Marilyn touched the lives of everyone that she met and knew, will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
