Marie A. Sauer

Marie A. Sauer, 83, of Lancaster, passed away on July 16, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital, after a brief illness. Born in Philipsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Robert S. McKimm and Marguerete M. (Rougeux) McKimm. She is survived by her brother Raymond McKimm and two sisters: Beverly J. McKimm of Aztec, N.M., and Gail L. Kirchner of Landisville. She was preceded in death by a stillborn older sister, Donna.

Marie graduated from Clearfield High School in 1960. While living in Lancaster, she met her husband Paul J. Sauer, Jr. Together, they raised six children and celebrated 61 years of marriage prior to his death in 2025. Marie was active in her Catholic faith, most recently as a member of St. Philip the Apostle in Millersville.

Marie is survived by six children: daughter Theresa M. (Kevin) Longenecker of Lancaster, and sons Thomas P. Sauer (Lori) of Maplewood, N.J., David P. Sauer of Lebanon, John P. Sauer (Michelle) of Lititz, Dr. Michael P. Sauer (Becka) of St. Augustine, Fla., and Stephen P. Sauer (Jessica) of Lancaster. Marie is survived by one niece, as well as 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral and interment services will be private at the convenience of the family.
