Maria L. Katz

Maria Liberta (Antonico) Katz, 77, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully at Lancaster General Hospital on Monday, July 13, 2026.

Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Marion (DiMaio) Antonico. Maria shared more than 57 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Louis S. Katz, building a life centered on faith, family, and love.

A devoted member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ephrata, Maria lived her life with kindness and quiet generosity. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Verizon, where she worked for many years.

Maria found great joy in quilting and baking. Whether creating beautiful handmade quilts or preparing homemade treats for those she loved, she expressed her care through thoughtful gifts and simple acts of kindness. She treasured time spent with her family and especially cherished watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

In addition to her loving husband, Louis, Maria is survived by her son, Joseph Katz and his wife, Sharon, of Downingtown; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly as well as her beloved dog Leroy Gibbs. She was preceded in death by her daughter, LynAnn Edelman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 320 Church Avenue, Ephrata, PA 17522. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
