Margaret "Peg" Wentworth

Margaret “Peg” Wentworth 81, passed away peacefully at her home on September 24, 2026 after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was married almost 60 years to Timothy F. Wentworth who held her hand as she took her last breath.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA of parents Theodore Stewart French and Mary (Mishefski) French, she was a 1963 graduate of Wyoming (PA) Seminary before earning her RN certificate from the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Bethlehem in 1966. While in school she was the Editor of the Luke-O-Cyte school newspaper as well as Editor-In-Chief of the yearbook. Following her schooling she started her professional career working as an RN in the operating room at the Lancaster General Hospital, where she was employed from 1967 to 1976.

Peg was passionate about women’s causes, taking courses such as Women in Politics. This led to her activity in the League of Women Voters where she served as President and Chair of Membership and Voter Services Committees. She also served as Chair of the Jean Kohr Award Committee and was the League representative to the Lancaster Women’s Coalition, which included a term as President. She was a member of the planning committee for the Women’s Conference at the YWCA. Additionally, she served many years as a poll worker and Judge of Elections.

She was a 1998 founding member of the Women’s Investment Network (WIN) stock club, serving for 20 years as Club Treasurer.

An adventurous partner in all things, Peg served as co-pilot for her husband on family flights after completing flight ground school and soloing in a Cessna 152.

Golf was her passion and she cherished her rounds as a member of the Lancaster Country Club. The highlight of her golf career was shooting an 80 in the Lancaster City-County Tournament, winning her flight. She was a long-time member of the Lancaster City-County Golf Assn where she served as Secretary and later President. She also organized Chip in For Diabetes tournaments to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Peg was an avid professional baseball fan as well as an enthusiastic fan of the multi-championship winning University of South Carolina Women’s basketball team. But her all-time favorite teams where those of her two grandchildren Luke and Piper. In addition, she rarely missed her favorite Hand, Foot and Tush card games either in Traditions of America Lititz or at Isla Key condos, St. Petersburg FL.

Peg was the loving mother of and is survived by her two daughters, Katherine Wentworth Tourville, wife of Christopher of Lancaster and Jessica Fair Bialek, wife of Joseph of Sinking Spring. She was the devoted grandmother of Luke John Wentworth Bialek and Piper Fair Bialek. Additionally, she is survived by her two sisters Jessica Morgan and Edith Mary French. She was preceded in death by her brother Jerome Lee French.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday November 7, 2026 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 South Duke St. Lancaster, PA 17602.
