Margaret Diane Shaw

Margaret Diane Shaw, 97, of Willow Valley Communities, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Alexander C. and Anna May (Wright) Steele.

Margaret earned her Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from Temple University and then went on to receive her Master's degree in Library Science from Villanova University. She taught in schools in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and then worked as a librarian at the Paoli Library and Lancaster County Library, and volunteered at the library of Calvary Church.

A devout Christian, Margaret was very active at Calvary Church, where she attended for many years. Margaret enjoyed reading, spending time outdoors, and watching television. However, her greatest joy was found in her family, who she loved dearly.

Margaret is survived by her daughters: Carolyn Shaw Dorph, wife of Martin, of Washington Crossing, PA, and Elaine Geffken, wife of Karl, of Enfield, NH; she is also survived by her 6 grandchildren.

Private Memorial Services will be held at Willow Valley Communities at the convenience of the family.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be sent in memory of Margaret Shaw to the Willow Valley Communities Charitable Foundation at 100 Willow Valley Lakes Drive, Willow Street, PA 17584, with the gift restricted for use at the Willow Valley Memory Care Center.
