Lydia M. Stephan, 66, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side at her Lititz, PA residence on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. Stephan, Jr., and Nancy R. Kline.
She graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School, Class of 1978, completed a bachelor’s degree at Millersville University in 1981 and then earned her MBA from St. Joseph University in 1994. Lydia worked as the V.P. of Information Systems for Lititz Mutual Insurance Company, retiring in 2025 after 30 years of service.
Lydia was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing the piano, and completing crossword puzzles and the New York Times Wordle. Her favorite vacations were to the Outer Banks where she enjoyed swimming in the ocean, reading a book by Danielle Steel, James Patterson, or John Grisham. She was a fan of watching the Hallmark Christmas movies.
She was a loving and supportive mother who was always involved in her children’s hobbies and passions. She was a compassionate and generous community member, known for donating her time and creative skills to those in need.
Lydia’s family includes her daughters, Leanne C. Stephan of Denver, CO, and Lizbeth A.C. Stephan of Harrisonburg, VA, and her siblings, Michael C. Stephan, husband of Carol of Lititz, and Michelle G. Harnick, wife of Daniel of Lancaster. In addition to her parents, Lydia was preceded in death by her brother Daniel B. Stephan.
Family and friends are invited to greet Lydia’s family from 10 to 11 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am on Thursday, October 8, 2026, with The Rev. Daniel D. Weitzel as Celebrant, at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Avenue, Lititz, PA 17543. Inurnment will take place in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. The family invites guests to wear colorful attire in celebration of Lydia’s life.
