Lydia E. Cosme-Rosa, 87, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Barcelo and Rosa Cosme. She was also the wife to Hector Rodriguez until his passing.
Lydia took great pride in her role as a homemaker, raising her five children and the Lancaster community as a whole. She was known as a mother to everyone she interacted with, tending to everyone with her caring and generous nature. She always made sure that you were taken care of. When not out in her community, she would be at home gardening, spending time with her pets and family, listening to music, or tuning into Hector Valdez on the radio. Lydia was also devout in her faith, being a lifetime member of Puerta de Refugio in Lancaster. She was strong-willed and independent, but also the first to extend a helping hand if there was ever someone in need. She was loved and will be missed by many.
Lydia is survived by her sons, Hector Rodriguez, Hector L. “Luis” Rodriguez, Elias Rodriguez, and Epifanio Rodriguez. She is preceded in passing by her parents; her husband; and her daughter, Kathy Rodriguez.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at Pureta de Refugio Church, 220 W King St, Lancaster, PA 17603 beginning at 12 PM. Friends and relatives will be welcomed to the church at the church from 10-12 PM prior to the service. Lydia will be laid to rest at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery following the service.
