Lubow Irwin

Lubow "Luba" Irwin, 74, of Lititz, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2026.

Born in Philadelphia on July 14, 1952, Luba was the daughter of Helen and Mychajlo Sawaryn, who immigrated to the United States from Ukraine. She was deeply proud of her Ukrainian heritage and carried that pride throughout her life.

Luba shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joseph Irwin. Together they built a loving family, which was the center of her world. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children: Megan Berry and her husband, Reed, of Dallastown; Dana Lakra and her husband, Kenny, of Morristown, New Jersey; and Joseph "Joey" Irwin of East Petersburg. She is also survived by her sisters, Marianne Kaine and Lidia Kosyk.

Nothing brought Luba more joy than her family. She was a devoted grandmother to Laura Helbig and her husband, Tommy, and to Brielle, Tatum, and Neena. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Quinn, Rowan, and Declan. She treasured family gatherings, especially holidays, and loved creating lasting memories through travel and time spent together.

A passionate advocate for organ donation, Luba often spoke of the life-changing gift she received from her sister, through a kidney transplant more than 30 years ago. She was deeply grateful for the extra years it gave her with her loved ones and dedicated herself to raising awareness about the importance of organ donation.

A lifelong Catholic, Luba was a faithful and active member of St. James Catholic Church. She shared her musical talents by playing piano for Masses and funerals and enjoyed participating in a Bible study group.

Music was one of Luba's greatest gifts and lifelong passions. She taught music at Our Mother of Perpetual Help School in Ephrata, offered piano lessons from her home, and accompanied Warwick Middle School musicals. She found great joy in sharing her love of music with students, friends, and her community.

Luba's dedication to her community extended into both her professional and personal life. She was employed by the Warwick Township Municipal Office until her retirement and remained committed to helping others through volunteer work, including Meals on Wheels and St. Mary's Church. Luba also stayed active in several social groups formed through friendships at Lititz Reserve.

Luba was a dedicated Philadelphia sports fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her beloved Philly teams.

She also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs. Known for her compassion, she spent many years rescuing dogs in need and providing them with the love, care, and homes they deserved.

Above all else, Luba cherished her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her kindness, generosity, faith, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Lititz, Pennsylvania, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.
