Leonard W. Hoover Sr., 82 of Denver, was welcomed into the open arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late John H. and Mabel Weaver Hoover. Leonard married the love of his life, Lillian Mae Anderson, on June 20, 1964, and they shared 61 years of marriage with one another. He was a faithful member of River of Life Church of God where he served on the Men's council, Elder's board as well as the benevolence ministries. He owned and operated Hoover's trucking.
Leonard found peace in spending time at the cabin in Perry County, whether hunting or tinkering around to find something to fix; any time spent there was time well spent. His competitive spirit would show when playing in a competitive board game or an exciting game of cards. His prize possession was his Allis Chalmers tractor and spending time at the annual heritage days. His warm personality and charisma drew people to him, and he was always interested in others. Sparking up conversation and cooking a delightful meal for friends and family were just only some of the acts of kindness he showed to others over his 82 years of life.
Surviving are four children; Nevin Hoover, Sharon wife of Eli Dissinger, Nelson husband of Jeane Hoover, Leonard Jr. husband of Rachel Hoover, grandchildren, Branden, Ki-Jana Hoover, Cassandra Husbands, Daniel, Elijah, Camerin Dissinger, Matthew, Micah, Josiah and Cordelia Hoover, as well as 4 great grandchildren and one on the way. Surviving are also 2 brothers and 6 sisters. Preceding him in passing is a granddaughter, Lexy Hoover.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a viewing for Leonard on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Reamstown Church of God, 400 Pfautz Hill Road, Stevens PA 17578. There will be a funeral service at the church on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11:00 AM. There will be an additional time of viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Ephrata. Those desiring may send memorial contributions in Leonard's name to River of Life Church of God Benevolence Fund, 825 North 7th Street, Lebanon PA 17046.
