Leonard E. Doherty

Leonard E. “Len” Doherty, 86, of Willow Valley Communities, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at LGH. Born in Lowell, MA he was the son of the late Leonard G. and Margaret L. (Hartigan) Doherty. He was the husband of the late Sharon “Kathryn” Doherty with whom he shared 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2025.

He received a bachelor's degree from Merrimack College in 1962. Len worked for Dow Jones for many years as their treasurer. He and his wife Kathryn lived in New Jersey and then Yardley, PA for many years and leave behind many close friendships. Len loved to travel, read, play golf and bridge. He enjoyed his time spent in Atlantic Beach, NC. In retirement, he volunteered for the Children's Home Society in Trenton, NJ.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Raimondi (John). His son, David (Jenn), predeceased him in 2023. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Nicholas and Elizabeth Raimondi and Ella Doherty; Len was affectionately known as “Butch” by his siblings, Susan Dwyer (Kevin), and Margaret Doherty. Brother, Lawrence Doherty (Barbara) preceded Len in death.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 4-6PM at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA. Family and friends will be received from 10-11AM at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be private in St. Joseph’s New Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Len’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
