Lawrence "Larry" A. Wimer

Lawrence “Larry” A. Wimer, 76, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, PA, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, with his loving family by his side. Larry shared 22 years of marriage with his wife Joan (Kisner) Wimer.

He was born in Lancaster, PA, the son of the late Lawrence Reedy and Lettie (Miles) Wimer.

Larry was a self-employed painter for both commercial and residential customers. His company was called Final Coat Painting.

A man of strong Christian belief and values, he was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather to his family. Larry was a gentle giant and big teddy bear who did not raise his voice but was firm with his discipline. He enjoyed playing all sports with his sons.

Larry enjoyed his time in Cancun and visiting his sister in Ocala, FL. He was a member of Riverside Camping Association.

Larry’s family includes his wife Joan Wimer, three sons, Larry A. Wimer, Jr. husband of Wendy of Myerstown, PA, Barry L. Wimer, husband of Bobbi Shuey-Wimer of Jonestown, PA, and Jeff Flanagan, husband of Diana of Manheim, PA, his daughter Monica Dibbs, wife of Michael, of Lancaster, PA, 11 grandchildren, Dakota Wimer, Morgan Wimer, Bryce Wimer, Brant Wimer, Chris Andrews, Seth Wittle, Josh Flanagan, Justin Flanagan, Paige Brown, Tristan Dibbs, and Adelina Dibbs; 10 great-grandchildren, and his sister Joyce Hohman of Florida.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers, John Wimer, Sr. and Jim Wimer.

A traditional graveside service and burial will take place at 11 am Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Strasburg Mennonite Cemetery (new section across the road from the church) 1514 Village Road, Strasburg, PA 17579.
