John A. Wright

On January 12, 1942 John Allen Wright was born in Dillon, SC to the late Ana Lisa Fulmore (Wright). He was the oldest of two children. John was educated in the public schools in Fayetteville, NC. He met and married his wife Letha, and they ultimately moved to Lancaster, PA when they were very young and in love.

His first employment was as a machine operator in a feed mill and then he began employment at Armstrong World Industries where he retired.

John lived a life marked by love, commitment, dedication, discipline and devotion to his family and friends. He was a devoted, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had a great sense of humor, he played semi-professional baseball, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed watching wrestling on TV. He loved family trips and attending family reunions.

He was a Master Mason with Mt. Horeb Lodge #14, MWPHGL of PA and a member of the Conestoga Lodge #140 (IBPOEW) of the Improved Benevolent Protective Elks of the World.

Preceding John in death are his mother, Ana Lisa Fulmore (Wright) his brother Frank Wright, Sr., his wife Letha Wright and his daughter Sheila Wright.

His legacy of love is continued by his remaining four children, Patricia Wright (Harrisburg, PA), John F. Wright (Lancaster, PA), Tatia Wright (Lancaster, PA) and Teairy Wright (Nashville, TN). John and Letha also helped raise Elsie Shaw who they affectionately referred to as one of their children. His ten grandchildren are Tanishia Wright, Tanyae Wright, Tyquan Wright-Santana, Tyree Ford, Jeffrey Marshall, Jonna Wright, Dionna Wright, Alysha Wright, Eltrice Johns and Kristine Gyles. And his sixteen great grandchildren are Tevonni Brown, Tevin Brown, Jahli Pitts, Tavae Johns, Honor Howard, Ely Bradley, Ela’y Bradley, Daeshown Bradley,  Jaziah Ruiz Wright, Jayda Miranda, Janiya Miranda, Jeah Miranda, Ella’ Simone Felder, Lucas Hodzic, Hannah Sanchez, and Ariel Gyles. Additionally, he has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other precious relatives and close friends who became family.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, John Allen Wright, 84, passed away peacefully. Many will truly miss him as he was a cherished jewel that embodied the word LOVE.
