John L Semonco

John L. Semonco, 89, of Quarryville, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026. Born in Elkhorn, WV he was the son of the late Andrew Bosick Semonco and Mary (Deamon) Semonco.

He worked for the Rock Creek Cemetery as a mechanic for many years.

An avid outdoorsman he was affectionately known as the “working man.” He would spend as much time outside tinkering with projects or anything he could get his hands on. John loved to fish, hunt and enjoyed watching college football.

John is survived by his son, Michael Semonco of Quarryville, PA. Also surviving are two grandchildren: Maddie wife of Kameryn, John husband of Olivia and great-granddaughter, Elle; three sisters, Ann Thompson of Laurel, MD, Joan Bailey of Columbia, MD and Caro, Rankin of Staunton, VA. He was preceded in death by his son John, first wife, Blanche Florence Pumphrey and second wife, Carolyn Jean Brower Semonco.

Funeral Services will be held at 12PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Entombment will follow in Conestoga Memorial Park. Family and friends will be received from 11AM-12PM at the funeral home on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, 3535 Market St, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
