John Richard Mortensen

John Richard Mortensen, 72, of Mount Joy, passed away May 11, 2026. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lewis and Frances (Klingseisen) Mortensen.

John was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School and worked for many dedicated years in sales. A devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, he loved football season and rarely missed a game. John was also a history buff who enjoyed sharing stories and facts from the past. In his quieter moments, he liked to watch the Game Show Network and indulge his sweet tooth, especially when cheesecake was involved.

Known for his kindness, humor, and social nature, John loved spending time with friends and gathering with family. He will be remembered for his warm heart, curious mind, and the joy he brought to those around him.

John is survived by 3 children: Kelly Force (husband Matthew), Daniel Mortensen (companion Tammy Sauder), and Jonathan Mortensen (wife Lindsay); 2 grandchildren: Ronin and Maya Force; and 6 siblings: Marianne Spiziri (husband John), Frances Finefrock, Robert Mortensen, Elizabeth Pelczar, Patricia Mortensen, and Christine Wenderoth. He was predeceased by his brother William Mortensen.
