John H. Barrett, Sr.

John H. Barrett, Sr., 92, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Legends of Lancaster. He was the devoted husband of the late Janet M. (Long) Barrett, who died in 2023.

Born in Dayton, PA, he was a son of the late Clyde & Margaret (Walker) Barrett.

Mr. Barrett was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean War. Following his service, he was employed in data processing for the City of Lancaster for many years.

Outside of work, John enjoyed many RV trips with his wife. They could be found spending their summers in Yellowstone National Park to see the buffalo before wintering in Florida.

Surviving John are his children, John H. Barrett, Jr. (Jeanne) of Mountville; Larry Barrett (Tina) of Lancaster; Linda Yost (Jim) of Lancaster; Teresa Cox of Holtwood; Kevin McVey of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet E. Barrett and all of his siblings, Merle Hallman, Roy Barrett, Donald Barret, and Bernard Barrett.

Relatives and friends will be received by his family on Monday, September 21, 2026 after 10:00am in the Charles F. Snyder, III Funeral Home and Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, where his funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. followed by full military honors. Burial will be held privately in Conestoga Memorial Park.
