John V. Amodeo

John Vincent Amodeo, 77, of Lititz, PA, passed away on September 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born on November 1, 1948, in Camden, NJ. John is survived by his daughters, Andrea Amodeo and Gabrielle Amodeo Ream, and son-in-law Jeremy Ream. He is also survived by his siblings, Dolores Arnold and Joseph Amodeo, both of NJ. John is preceded in death by his wife Pat (Patricia); his parents, Joseph and Helen (nee Auletto); and his brother, Michael A. Amodeo.

John was a 1966 graduate of Deptford Township High School (NJ) where he first met his wife Pat. He and Pat married in 1968. Together, they enjoyed a full, beautiful and loving life for more than 57 years.

During the Vietnam conflict, John served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was Honorably Discharged in 1969. After high school, he was hired by Campbell Soup Company in Camden, NJ, where he worked until joining New Jersey Bell Telephone as a Cable Splicer in 1971. While working at the telephone company, John attended evening classes at Rutgers University, the George Meany National Labor College, and the University of Maryland, where he ultimately earned his BA degree. He continued his study of law, earning a master’s degree in legal and Ethical Studies from the University of Maryland.

While at New Jersey Bell, John became active with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), the labor union representing the Plant and Accounting employees at New Jersey Bell. Over his career at New Jersey Bell, John was elected a Steward, Chief Steward, Executive Board Member, and finally the Local Union Vice-President. In that position, he was responsible for the highest-level grievance and arbitration cases of 13,000 members. John served as a vice president of the Camden-Gloucester County AFL-CIO, where he was active in labor, economic, social, and political issues in the state. John also served as a chairman of the Camden County United Way during those years.

John and his family re-located to Lititz, PA in 1989 after accepting the position of International Representative with the IBEW. In that position, he traveled frequently, assisting labor unions and employers in the tele-communications industry. As an International Representative, John served as Chief Negotiator, Mediator Union Arbitration Advocate, and organizer. John retired from the IBEW in 2012. He hoped to be remembered as an activist for social and economic justice.

When not working with the Union, John was a licensed and Certified Private Pilot. John was an avid Corvette owner and collector. His first of many Corvettes was purchased in 1968. John was also an avid reader, who especially enjoyed learning about American history. He loved music and learned to play the guitar at age 70.

Above all else, John enjoyed his life with Pat. He was thankful for her love each and every day. Andrea and Gabrielle will always remember and cherish their Dad’s friendship, advice, stories, and humor.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11am ET on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received from 10am to 11am ET.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
