John A. Wood

John Albert Wood, of Lancaster, PA and Woodstock, GA passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026. Born in June 1945 to the late Marlin S. and Emily F. Wood, John lived a life marked by generosity, and deep devotion to the people he loved.

A graduate of Camp Hill High School, John earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Science from Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University) in 1967. He served in the United States Army Reserves at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in 1968. In May 2024, he retired after many years of dedicated service as a driver for Ganse Apothecary, now Altruix.

John’s commitment to his community shone brightest through his long involvement with the Lancaster Youth Soccer Club, where he served as both coach and president. He found his greatest joy in the simple, enduring pleasures of life: long evenings spent with family and friends, competitive card games, baseball, and good music. Those who knew him will remember a man with a generous heart, a resilient spirit, and a rare gift for making others feel truly seen, cared for, and remembered.

John will be lovingly remembered as a devoted father, cherished brother, and proud, adoring “GPa.” He is survived by his three children—Tracy (Wood) Trump, Jeff Wood and his wife Tonya, and Adam Wood; his eleven grandchildren and their spouses; his nine great-grandchildren; his siblings, M. Sandra Wood and Linda W. Reid and her husband, Chuck; and his niece and her family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew.

A private memorial service will be held in John’s honor on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Woodstock, Georgia.
