Joanne E. Herbster

Joanne Herbster, of Quarryville, passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2026. She was 76.

Born in Chester, Delaware County, she was a graduate of Sun Valley High School. She later moved to Quarryville, where she spent the last 45 years. Joanne was an active member of Faith United Church of Christ, where she served on consistory and enjoyed participating in the “Blanket Babes” Project Linus group.

Joanne was an enthusiastic lover of Christmas. She also enjoyed retail therapy and trips to the beach. She was very talented in sewing and crafting, and was known for making beautiful quilts for family and friends. Her sense of humor will be missed, as well as the pride and joy she had for creating parties and games for silly family fun.

With her passing, she is reunited with her “Sparky,” Cliff, with whom she was married for 55 years. She is also predeceased by her parents, James and Geraldine Baldwin.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly (Daniel) Shank and Karen (Jason) Rieker. “Mum” also survived by her granddaughters, Abbie and Alaina Shank. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, sister, nieces, nephews, and the many she was an honorary “Mah” to.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 6-8pm at Faith United Church of Christ, 1204 Wabank Road, Lancaster, PA 17603. Saturday, August 22, 2026 visitation will continue from 10-11am, followed by a memorial service and luncheon, also at the church. Interment will be held privately with the family.
