Joan M. Pearson

Joan M. Pearson, 81, formerly of West Lampeter Township, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Providence Place Senior Living of Lancaster.

Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jay and Kathryn (Englert) Groff.

Joan worked for the former Skyline and continued when it became ACME Markets as a shipping receiver in the warehouse.

She loved country music and line dancing, tending to her flower garden, and vacationing in Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City, MD. Joan was a devoted mother and homemaker who loved to keep her home tidy and clean and make wonderful meals for her family. She was a very generous woman.

Joan’s family includes her daughter Wanda, wife of Kevin Hansel, Sr. of Mechanicsburg, PA, two sons, Randy Sweigart; husband of Cindy of Mechanicsburg, and Alan Sweigart of Dillsburg; as well as six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Also surviving Joan are her five siblings, Jay Groff, Jr., Mike Groff, Bobby Groff, Kay Groff, and Shari, wife of Mike Ortega, all of Lancaster, numerous nieces and nephews, and three sisters-in-law, Kathy Pearson and Ann Fisher both of Lancaster and Joyce Rehkugler of Florida.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband Paul E. Pearson, her former husband William C. Sweigart, her infant son, Gary Sweigart, and her four siblings.

A future celebration of Joan’s life will be announced.
