Joan M. Hresko, 82, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026. Born in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late George and Anne (Olseski) Hresko.
Joan will be lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, cherished sister, proud and adoring Baba to her grandchildren and a trusted friend and neighbor. She had a generous heart, a strong spirit, and a gift for making others feel cared for and remembered.
Joan attended Lebanon Catholic High School, earned a Bachelors Degree from Mansfield University and a Masters Degree from Penn State University. For 23 years, Joan dedicated herself to teaching Home Economics with the Conrad Weiser School District. She took great pride in helping her students learn practical life skills, and it brought her immense joy when former students returned years later to thank her for lessons they still carried with them. She was also a passionate advocate for teachers' rights through her involvement with PSEA.
Throughout her life, Joan, a devoted Catholic, gave generously of her time and talents, volunteering in her church, schools, and community wherever she lived. In more recent years, she volunteered with Heartland Hospice and embraced life at Brethren Village, where she enjoyed a close community of friends. She loved traveling with her college friends, practicing yoga, swimming, walking, and attending theater trips. Joan also faced cancer with remarkable courage and grace and was a proud breast cancer survivor.
Joan will be deeply missed every day by her two children, Emily North and her husband, John, and Aaron Evans and his wife, Season; her five beloved grandchildren, Reese, Ella, and Jack North, and Claire and Cora Evans; and her five siblings, George Hresko, Jr. and his wife, Janet, Phil Hresko and his wife, Linda Mancini, Sister Marijane Hresko, OSF, Carol Altadonna-Hresko and her spouse, Leigh, and Margaret Hresko. She will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved to brighten with cards, small gifts, and even the daily Wordle right up until her passing.
Joan's kindness, resilience, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will remain a lasting gift to all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will receive guests beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1810 Jay St, Lebanon, PA 17046.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Joan's name to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
