Joan Marie Asso

Joan Marie Asso, born as Joan Marie Mowery on October 9, 1944, to Ellen and William Mowery. She was one of six children and attended Saint Anthony's Church growing up.

A Graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, Class of 1962. She was the widow of Roger F. Asso, Sr. Happily married for fifty-nine years.

Joan's lifelong dream was to be a mother. Her dream came true and then some.

She was the loving mother of eight children: Roger F. Asso, Eric Asso, Kim Anspach, Mark Asso, Lee Asso, Seth Asso, Mary Ann Smith, and Rose Asso.

Joan was the grandmother of thirty-six children, and the great grandmother of twelve. Joan attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She attended HACC in her sixties and graduated with an associate's degree in business.

Joan worked at Bell telephone, Sacred Heart of Jesus School, and Lancaster Reality.

Joan was battling Pancreatic Cancer. She was comforted knowing she would be with her late husband after passing. Psalm 23, her son's singing voice, and the love of her family were also a great comfort during this difficult time.

Joan took her final breath on September 20, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

She was 81 years old. The family takes comfort that Roger and Joan are together again with the peace and love of Heaven.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 11am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 558 W. Walnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. Viewing begins at 10am. Interment will immediately follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.
