Jerry W. Tueché of Lititz, Pennsylvania, born to Carmen and Harry Tueché of Monessen, lived a long and accomplished life marked by family, public service, professional achievement, and an enduring curiosity to pursue his passions.
Early in his career, Jerry discovered a talent for residential construction and home design with Keystone Homes of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. From 1959 to 1966, he personally guided prospective homeowners through the entire process-from design and financing to final construction-building 75 homes throughout Fayette, Washington, and Westmoreland counties. Following a brief but successful period as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Strasenburgh Laboratories, Jerry found his true professional calling in politics.
In 1971, Jerry and his wife, Marjorie, made the move from Western Pennsylvania to Harrisburg so he could embark upon a distinguished career in Pennsylvania government spanning more than three decades. He served in various leadership capacities across the Commonwealth, including roles within the Governor's Office, the Department of Commerce, the State Treasury, and the Auditor General's Office, as well as returning briefly to Western Pennsylvania to serve as County Manager of Fayette County. Throughout his public service career, Jerry took immense pride in improving the organizations entrusted to him-reorganizing operations, boosting employee morale, and even transforming underutilized state facilities into functional, cost-saving office spaces.
Jerry retired from public service in 2005. He and Marjorie ultimately settled in Lititz to enjoy their retirement years, though a change in pace did little to dim his sharp interest in world affairs, local government, and public policy. He remained deeply active in the community until his passing, serving as Manheim Township Tax Collector and Treasurer and spending many years as Vice-Chairperson of the Township's Civil Service Commission. He also volunteered his time in support of local political campaigns and dedicated his energy to numerous civic organizations, including the Rotary Club. Among Jerry's proudest community achievements was his work coordinating the annual Salute to Veterans night at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
Long before his professional career took off, Jerry also held a lifelong passion for automobiles and sports-car racing. A competitor at heart, his early racing highlights included a proud second-place finish driving an Austin-Healey Sprite at the 1960 National Championship Sports Car Races in Cumberland, Maryland. This love for fine machinery never faded; at the age of 80, Jerry proudly purchased his ultimate dream car, a Ferrari F430 Spyder, which he cherished and thoroughly enjoyed before reluctantly selling it just a couple of years ago.
Jerry married Marjorie Daniels of Donora in 1961, and together they shared many happy years and raised their daughter, Michele Waite (Cameron). After Marjorie's passing in 2018, Jerry shared his later years alongside Helen Gastaldo, traveling, spending time
with friends, and enjoying the company of Helen's beloved pets. He was also the deeply proud grandfather of Christian Mountz, Weston Mountz (Shannon), and Taylor Kirsch who all affectionately called him Pepa.
In reflecting on his own life, Jerry wrote that he left it without regrets. He considered his journey wonderful, complete, and filled with great love. Although he was sad to leave his family and many dear friends, he took comfort in knowing that he had lived the full life he intended. True to his practical and caring nature, he meticulously planned his own arrangements to ease the burden on his family, leaving behind a simple message for those who loved him: try not to cry because he is gone, but instead be happy that he was here. In Jerry's own words: "I was here, I was blessed, now I am gone."
Friends are invited to visit with Jerry's family on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 3:00-4:30PM at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA, with the rendering of military honors to begin promptly at 4:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jerry's honor to the Lititz Rotary Club, continuing his legacy of service to the community.
