Jere Paul Oster, Jr., 72, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at Penn Medicine with his family by his side.

Born on March 19, 1954, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Jere was the son of Jere P. Oster, Sr. and Mary L. Oster (née Hoffman). He was a proud graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, Class of 1972.

After moving to Harrisburg, Jere fulfilled his entrepreneurial dream by co-founding Fresh Look Painting with his lifelong best friend, Louis S. Burton (Steve). Through hard work, dedication, and a commitment to quality, he built not only a successful business but also lasting friendships with his colleagues.

Jere's greatest joy was his family, and some of his happiest moments were those spent together celebrating the traditions he loved most. He also had a lifelong passion for horse racing and football. To those who knew him, the Kentucky Derby and the Super Bowl weren't just sporting events—they were holidays. A devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan, Jere rarely missed a game and loved sharing his enthusiasm with family and friends. He also appreciated good food and wine and looked forward to gathering around the table with those he loved. Sunday dinners were a cherished family tradition, and in true Jere fashion, they weren't considered "dinner" unless the meal was on the table before 11:00 a.m.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Robin L. Oster (née Howe); his son, Joshua P. Oster and his husband, William R. Franquet; his daughter, Jennifer L. Oster; and his cherished grandchildren, Mackena L. Oster, Eric S. Carl, Jr., and Elijah D. Carl. He is also survived by his mother, Mary L. Oster; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael E. and Candi V. Oster (née Gross); and his lifelong friend, Steve Burton, whose friendship spanned a lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jere P. Oster, Sr.; his son-in-law, Eric S. Carl, Sr.; and his beloved dog, Maddie.

Jere will be remembered for his love of family, his loyal friendships, his hardworking spirit, and the joy he found in life's simple traditions. His kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Family and friends will always smile remembering one of Jere's favorite sayings: "Watch out for Maddie."

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests memorial contributions be made to your charity of choice.
