Jean Eleanor Swavely, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished member of the community, passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in Bally, PA., she was the daughter of the late Rueben and Gertrude (Eberhart) Mutter and the beloved wife of S. Jay Swavely.
A dedicated mother and loving wife, Jean's warmth and nurturing spirit shaped not only her family but also the countless friends who were fortunate enough to know her. Her career in customer service at Millersville University allowed her to touch many lives in the education sector, reflecting her steadfast commitment to supporting others.
Jean was a lifelong member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Bally, where her faith grounded her and brought her community together. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether it was tending to her beautiful flower garden or collecting intricate Buckley Moss artwork, each piece a testament to her appreciation for artistry and nature. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her delight for the birds and butterflies that frequented her garden.
Every Wednesday, Jean looked forward to her weekly coffee klatch with friends in Akron. Her love of gathering extended to monthly dinners with friends, where heartfelt conversations and shared memories created strong bonds.
In addition to her husband, Jay, of Akron, Jean is survived by her beloved daughter Jodie Livelsberger (wife of Barry) of Wrightsville; three grandchildren: Christopher, Elizabeth and Stephanie Dengler; three great grandchildren: Lexi, John and Oliver as well as one brother: John Mutter (husband of Brenda) of Bally, PA.
Along with her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her infant son, Joseph J. Swavely.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. 17543, from 10AM to 11:30AM with a prayer service to begin at 11:30AM. Burial will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church Cemetery at a later date.
