James Lee "Jim" Engledow, 77, joined his wife, Catherine Ann "Cathy" (DelPrete) Engledow in Heaven on September 1st, 2026.
A viewing for Jim will be held on Tuesday, September 8th at 10 a.m., with a Mass to be held at 11 a.m., at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 E. Delp Rd., Lancaster.
Jim was well-known for his wicked sense of humor, his extreme generosity, his unending kindness and his amazing work ethic.
Jim thoroughly enjoyed his 34 years at the former Alcoa Aluminum Plant, where he worked his way up the ladder from entry-level line worker to Plant Manager. Prior to that, he was the Lancaster Plant Manager at his father-in-law's business, By-Pass Paint Shop, for 11 years.
Jim was an active volunteer for St. Anne parish's Brown Bag Lunch Ministry, which provides healthy meals to anyone in need, serving an average of 100 people per day. Jim both made sandwiches and helped to fund the program up until his death.
He was a longtime member of St. John Neumann parish, where he was a former Eucharistic minister and project fundraiser.
Jim's favorite thing to do was travel with his wife. He had been to many countries, including the Bahamas 20 times and Italy yearly. Jim loved college basketball, particularly IU (Indiana University), where he played ball, attended college and met his wife.
Jim will be eternally missed by his daughter, Nicole Elizabeth (Engledow) Matthews, of Lancaster; his son, Wells Matthew Engledow; his daughter-in-law, Lynne Hewitt Engledow; and his beloved grandson, Reid William Engledow, all of Arlington, Virginia. Jim is also survived by his brothers Richard "Rick" and Steve Engledow, and his sister, Theresa Engledow. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, on November 18th, 2016. He also was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy (Richards) Engledow; his father, Leland Engledow; his older brother Gary Engledow; and his younger sister Janet (Engledow) Ellis.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Jim's favorite charity, the Brown Bag Lunch Ministry at www.stannechurch.org. To send the family online condolences please visit, www.snyderfuneralhome.com.
