James B. "Jim" Jones Sr., 80, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born on October 24, 1945, in Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of the late Richard and Evagene Olsen. Jim shared 57 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Catherine Jones, before her passing in 2025.
Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, where he sailed on the USS Higbee (DD806). Following his military service, he spent more than 55 years working as an auto mechanic and business owner at Jones Garage.
Jim loved watching sprint car races at local tracks and was a NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing pool. He was an avid Vikings fan. Jim and Catherine loved traveling together, especially trips to horse races and Atlantic City.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, AMVETS, and VFW. Known for his caring and generous personality, Jim was always willing to lend a helping hand and loved time spent with family and friends. Above all, Jim deeply loved his family and cherished every moment with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his children, Dwayne Jones (Stephanie) and James Jones Jr.; his grandchildren Jeremy Jones (Ashley), Brianna Jones, Dwayne Jones Jr., Brandon Jones, and Connor Jones; twenty great-grandchildren; and his brother, Mickey Jones. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Jones; his grandchildren, Austin and Justin Jones; and his siblings Donna, Cathy, and George.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 PM until the time of service. James and Catherine will be laid to rest at Indiantown Gap at the convenience of family.
