Irwin H. Forman, MD

Irwin H. Forman, MD, was born in the Bronx on March 11, 1939, the son of the late Jack and Beatrice Forman. He was the loving husband of Marcia Richman Forman for 33 years. Irwin passed away at Masonic Village, his home for the past 18 years, following complications from Parkinson's disease.

Irwin graduated from New York University and then traveled by ship to Italy to attend medical school at the University of Bologna. He completed his residency at Norristown State Hospital before moving to Lancaster in 1974, where he established his practice in Psychiatry. During his career, he served on the staffs of five area hospitals. In 1993, he joined the staff of Wernersville State Hospital.

Irwin's first love was his family, followed by his passion for traveling the world, most often by ship. He was a member of Congregation Shaarai Shomayim in Lancaster.

Irwin was a 62-year member of the Masonic fraternity and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 43, F. & A.M., and belonged to the Valley of Harrisburg.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marcia; daughter, Karen, wife of Chuck; and son, Steven, husband of Heather; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Congregation Shaarai Shomayim, 75 E. James Street, Lancaster, PA 17602.
