Gertrude "Pauline" Williams, 89, of Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026. Born on November 5, 1936, in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Andrew Brill and Gertrude M. (Dirk) Brill.
A proud graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, she went on to study at the Lancaster General Hospital School of X-Ray She dedicated her career as a radiologic technician working for many years at private and walk in clinics. She later pursued continuing education and earned her real estate license while raising her family, eventually becoming involved in property investment and management.
Pauline was the loving wife of the late Lloyd H. Williams Jr., who passed away on February 28, 2026. They were married for nearly 69 years. Pauline cherished her role as a homemaker, caring deeply for her family.
Pauline was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Baltimore's Cabbage Hill neighborhood. Deeply devoted to her faith and community, she served as a CCD teacher and director. During the Jesus Movement of the early 1970s, she advocated for and directed a full production of Jesus Christ Superstar, involving many of her CCD students. What began as a local effort grew into something much larger, with performances throughout the Baltimore area, touching countless lives and spreading her message of faith and connection.
She was also active in her community as a neighborhood block captain and volunteered with Southwest Emergency Services in Baltimore and collocating donations for the American Heart Association
Pauline loved long walks and being active with aerobics and rollerblading. She and her husband Llyod enjoyed dining at Baltimore's finer restaurants, and she was known as a wonderful host. She fulfilled her love of travel by visiting many places on her bucket list and especially cherished time at the ocean, riding her bike along the boardwalk and even boogie boarding with her grandchildren into her 80s.
An avid Baltimore Orioles fan, she enjoyed attending games and cheering on her team. She also loved classic Hollywood films and musicals, dancing, and she had a deep love for music. She loved playing the piano and could play a song by ear from hearing it just once. Her greatest joy was her family. Pauline would often attend games, school plays, recitals, and helping with childcare.
She is survived by her children: Susan J. Cromer (David), Pam Cruz, Lloyd H. Williams III (Lynn), and Todd J. Williams; her grandchildren: Lauren Tait (Michael), Michael Hall (Heather), David Cromer III (Melissa), Caitlin Mongiovi (Mark), Shannyn Pokras (Jack), Lloyd H. Williams IV "Hank" (Bailey), Ryan Williams, Thomas Cutugno II (fiancé Taylor O'Connor), and Sam Cruz (Stevie); her great-grandchildren: Caleb Snyder, Lily Cromer, Reese Mongiovi, and Drew Mongiovi; along with step granddaughters Megan Daly and Angelina VanSomeren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandsons, Kevin Matthew and Paul Christopher Cromer.
A visitation for both Pauline and her husband Lloyd will at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S Prince St, Lancaster, PA 17603 from 930 to 1030 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1030 am on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Interment will follow at St. Joseph New Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pauline's memory to Hospice and Community Care at hospiceandcommunitycare.org/
