Georgine Brown Gant, 70, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Carrie E. (Shockley) Green. Georgine shared 65 wonderful years with the love of her life, John Gant, who lovingly referred to her as his “Gummy Bear.”
Georgine was a loving, selfless woman whose life was centered around caring for others. She devoted many years to volunteer work with the Lancaster Women’s Abuse Shelter offering kindness to those in need. Georgine had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mother, where she poured her heart into raising not only her children, but also helping to care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family meant everything to her, and her home was always filled with love, laughter, and an open door. She enjoyed hosting neighborhood block parties, cooking and keeping a welcoming home, playing bingo, and spending time shopping. A true pillar of her community, Georgine never turned anyone away. She welcomed anyone who needed help and gave freely of herself without judgment. If someone needed something, she was always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear.
She is survived by her husband, John Gant; her children, Kimyetta, Aqueela, Jameela, Shakur, Tyreek, Donquell Brown, and Andre Dixon; her siblings, Saaheb Sabur, Ricardo Brown, Randy Brown, Abdul Shockley, Sandra LaRue, and Victoria Shockley; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Shakena Brown and Anika Brown Muniz; and brothers, David Brown, Darryl Dorsey, and Alfred Dorsey.
Friends and family will be received for a time of visitation from 6PM to 8PM on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Charles F.
