It is with deep love for a life well lived that we announce the passing of George Zug Ebersole who entered into his Lord & Saviors presence on April 10, 2026 at his home in Farmersville after an extended illness.
Born in Bareville, Pa he was the son of the late Jacob & Anna Zug Ebersole.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Zeager-Ebersole, daughter, Jeraldine (Elias) Stoltzfus, son, Jody Ebersole, daughter, Joy (Eldon) Witmer, twin granddaughters, Hana (Austin) Rutt, Dana (Adryan) Yothers, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews & great-great nephews including June Thompson, Roseanne and John Zuck. Above all of George’s greatest joys and proudest accomplishments was his children and granddaughters.
George was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Kathryn , foster sisters, Lena Zuck and Naomi Orth, brother Melvin (Pauline), sister Margaret (Jay) Burkholder, Janice Hanna Hagenberger (Jody).
George and Rebecca celebrated 40 beautiful years of marriage on December 18, 2025.
He was a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School. As a young boy George had many special memories of assisting his father Jake as he delivered Cooper’s baked goods in the Bareville area. In adult life he owned and operated Achenbach’s Pastry in Leola until health issues forced him into retirement from the baking industry to become a driver for Groffdale Concrete Walls which he often described as the best 4 years of his life.
George enjoyed being in nature especially when spending time in the mountains at the Ebersole’s Escape camp in Potter County as well as building a home for his family with his own hands, woodworking and completely dismantling and rebuilding his Chevy Impala that he had purchased in 1963.
A lifelong member of Conestoga Church of the Brethren. George assisted his mother in preparing large meals for the church and family gatherings. He continued using lessons from his mother as he enjoyed cooking food not only for his family but added a restaurant to the original bakery in 1989 completing a lifelong dream of providing meals & food service to his community. George loved working with his employees and they in return brought out his fun loving and good humored personality.
A time of donuts, coffee, visitation and memories is planned for Saturday April 18, 2026 10:00 AM at Conestoga Church of Brethren, Leola followed by a time of worship and life celebration at 11:30.
In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to Farmersville Fire Company or performing random acts of kindness for each other.
