Gary L. Burkholder, of Ephrata, PA, entered into rest on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Gary was born in Ephrata and was the son of the late Daniel L. Burkholder and Laverne F. (Sweigart) Burkholder. He was married to Carla J. (Noll) Burkholder. On September 9, 2026, they would have celebrated 37 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his three children: Ashley N. Burkholder of Ephrata; Derek M., husband of Josie A. (Mrozik) Burkholder, of Manheim; and Kyle S., husband of Alyssa M. (Edris) Burkholder, of Palmyra; and four grandchildren.
He is also survived by four brothers: Daniel L. Jr., husband of Sue A. (Weidman) Burkholder, of Ephrata; Terry L., husband of Diane (Bergman) Burkholder, of Lititz; George A., husband of Nancy (Boley) Burkholder, of New Holland; and Dennis L., husband of Lorraine (Good) Burkholder, of New Holland.
As a father, Gary gave the greatest gift a parent can give—he made his family his priority. He taught, through his example, what it means to work hard, to have fun, and to always put family first.
His happiest moments were spent in the mountains. Gary also enjoyed hunting, but his love for his family was what he cherished most. Gary lived 61 years that were filled with purpose, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the people he loved most. As a husband to Carla, he cherished memories made and was proud of the life and family that stand as a testament to their love.
He worked at Daniel Leroy Burkholder Excavating Inc. as a heavy equipment mechanic. Gary was a man who worked with his hands and took pride in what he built. One of his greatest passions was working on vehicles, whether it was a small repair or a full restoration.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 with funeral services following at 7:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Phil Walck and Pastor Tanner Cosgrave.
