Evelyn I. Spiese

Evelyn I. Spiese, 100, of Lititz, was received into the eternal care and keeping of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Born and raised in Newport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank H. and Edna Ruth (Beers) Crist.

Evelyn was a 1946 graduate of Newport High School and lived most of her life in Newport, PA. After moving to Lancaster in her later years, she resided at St John’s Herr Estate, Columbia where she was active in the resident community and chapel life. Her faith was central. It was her source of hope and strength and guided her throughout her life. Evelyn was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting. She was especially proud of her role as a homemaker and mother.

She is survived by her son, Keith Bitner; her daughter, Jo Ann Yohn; her granddaughters, Jessica Yohn and Emily (Ali) Karimian; her grandson, Michael Yohn; her great grandchildren, Hannah, Amanda and Lilly Yohn and Ella and Maya Karimian; and her siblings, Barry Crist, Donald Crist, and Barbara Sims.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George S. Bitner; her second husband, Frank E. Spiese; her son James G. Bitner, and her siblings, Roger Crist, Nancy Kennedy, Naomi Tressler, Wilmer Crist, Anna Mae Crist, Geraldine Crist, Grace Crist, Richard Crist, Doris Crist, Walter Crist and Freda Crist.

Memorial services will be held on September 1, 2026, 1:00 PM at the St. John’s Herr Estate, 200 Luther Lane, Columbia, PA.
