Evelyn Allison, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on August 22, 2026. She was born in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Arthur and Genefa Olson.
After graduating from Washington High School, Evelyn attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she met her husband, Paul K. Allison. They shared 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2016.
Evelyn was an accomplished pianist and singer. She studied under Greg Winkler and with world renowned pianist Vladimir Sokoloff at the esteemed Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She was recognized for her ability to perform the Piano Concerto in A minor by Edvard Grieg. Evelyn was chosen to attend Westminster Choir College and sang Soprano under the tutelage of John Williamson.
Music remained an important part of Evelyn's life. For 27 years, she accompanied and directed the Westminster Presbyterian Junior Choir program. She was also a frequent choir accompanist, including for her grandchildren.
Evelyn generously volunteered at Westminster Presbyterian Church in many roles, including as a deaconess, Vacation Bible School teacher, and ESL tutor.
Evelyn enjoyed traveling and adventure, going out to dinner, shopping, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through playing bridge, tennis, and weightlifting. She also had a wonderful sense of style and always looked elegant.
After Paul's passing, Evelyn made it a habit to say "yes" whenever she could, embracing new experiences and adventures. She lived life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and grace, and she was deeply loved by all who knew her.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Victoria, wife of J. Mark Myer of Millersville, PA; Bill Allison, husband of Dzeilana of Arlington, VA; and Paul Allison of Lancaster, PA; three grandchildren, Heather Myer, wife of Myles Magbitang; Nathan Myer, husband of Hannah; and Ismail Allison; five great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Eloise, Maizie, Jesse, and Leo; and her siblings, Dolores Emma Olson and Arthur Olson, along with many extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601at 11am. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10am to 11am.
