Elizabeth J. “Betty” Zahm of Lancaster passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in her 93rd year, she was the wife of the late William H. “Bill” Zahm.
Born in Lancaster, Betty was the daughter of the late Ambrose Joseph and Esther M. Rohrer Saam. Betty graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School. She retired from RCA in Lancaster after 30 years.
Betty loved the beach and spent many years enjoying Rehoboth and Lewes, Delaware with her husband Bill. She cared deeply for family and was a passionate advocate for dogs, particularly rescues. She also enjoyed playing cards, knitting, puzzles, fishing and beach combing for shells, and books or shows with a mystery to solve. Betty was a member of the Riverdale Campers Association.
She is survived by her stepdaughter Janet (Hoyt) Roark, her grandson William “Bill” (Meghan Wilson) Roark, three great grandchildren William “James” Roark, Anne Alice Roark & Ryan Andrew Roark. She was also survived by a brother Joseph Saam and sister Marion (John) Evans. She was preceded by a sister Doris and brothers Edward, Robert and Richard Saam.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, 437 Manor Ave, Millersville, PA 1755, on Thursday March, 19, 2026 at 11am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be made to the PA SPCA.
