It is through many tears that we announce the passing of Elizabeth L. Hollister, a devoted mother, grandmother, and talented artist. Born on July 29, 1938, in Lancaster, Elizabeth peacefully departed this life on April 30, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by the warmth of her family's love.
Elizabeth was a devout Catholic and steadfast parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church, where her faith flourished and blossomed over the years. A gifted artist, she delighted in painting Christmas ornaments that became treasured keepsakes for her family, each adorned with her love and creativity. Her artistic spirit extended beyond the canvas; she also enjoyed quilting and sewing. In addition to her artistic pursuits, Elizabeth cherished moments spent crafting flies for fly fishing with her husband and brother.
A beloved grandmother to her 33 grandchildren, Elizabeth relished attending her grandchildren's football games, traveling to support them with a heart full of pride and joy. She was an avid Notre Dame fame, cheering them on at every opportunity. Her compassionate nature was evidenced in her deep commitment to the community through her involvement with the group "Songs for the Journey," where she and her companions would visit local nursing homes and hospitals, bringing solace and song to those in their final moments.
She is survived by her children: Annemarie Witmer (late Jeffrey) of AL, Joseph Hollister II (Patricia) of Conestoga, Samuel Hollister (JoLynn) of Lititz, Michael Hollister of Lanc., Martin Hollister (late Donna) of Columbia, Mary Reilly (Timothy) of Willow St., and William Hollister (Terry) of Washington Boro and siblings: Dolores Reinfried, Theresa Sturgis, Claudette Cole, and Ronald Becker. She was preceded in passing by her parents Francis and Mable Becker, and her loving husband of over 57 years, Joseph Hollister.
Elizabeth’s life will be honored with a visitation on May 8, 2026, at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St. Lanc. at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are encouraged to be sent to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Shriner’s Children.
