Edwin L. Freeman

Edwin Lynn "Ed" Freeman, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026. The world has lost a bright light with his passing. He was a world traveler, a lover of life, and a friend to everyone.

Born on April 10, 1947, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Mae and Pat Freeman. Ed remained close throughout his life to his brothers, Ron and Doug, and his sisters, Dottie and Sylvia.

Ed enjoyed his time at Conestoga Valley High School, where he played football, tennis, and a bit of basketball. Following graduation, he served in the United States Air Force, stationed at a base hospital in Laredo, Texas.

After returning to Lancaster County, Ed continued his education at Elizabethtown College through the G.I. Bill while working full-time at Lancaster Newspapers. It was at Elizabethtown College that he met his wife, Nancy, beginning a lifelong adventure together that included 52 years of marriage.

Ed and Nancy later moved to Baltimore for employment opportunities and spent their lives traveling and exploring the world together. Ed continued his education at Towson University and Eastern Kentucky University.

Ed will be greatly missed by Nancy, his family, and his many friends.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Moravian Manor Skilled Nursing for the excellent care and compassion provided to Ed.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local Lancaster charity of the donor's choice in Ed's memory.
