Edward M. "Smitty" Smith

Edward M. “Smitty” Smith, 75, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 8th, 2026.

Born and raised in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Scott) Smith. He was the loving husband of the late Jarie L. (Bowman) Smith.

Smitty was a US Army Veteran and an involved member of Lancaster VFW Post 1690. He was also a member of the 7th Ward Club and a past member of the Rainmakers Club and the Manheim Township Lions Club. In his younger years, Smitty enjoyed golfing. He especially enjoyed being around people and loved talking with everyone he met. He particularly enjoyed his time driving for Uber, where he met many people and made connections. Smitty was the kind of person who would help anyone and do anything for anyone in need. His willingness to lend a hand and his friendly, outgoing nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Swift, wife of Carl, and Kelly Walton; his grandchildren, Cassidy Jo Kuhl, wife of Alex, Brady Walton, husband of Kathryn, Riley Walton, and Emmaleigh Swift; his great granddaughter, Harper Chase Kuhl; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, including Tonya Smith and Jimmy Smith, with whom he was especially close.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jarie; his brothers, Charles and James Smith; and his grandson, Chase Miller.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
