Obituary

Edward "Don" Fleckenstein, 89, of Lancaster, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Oakland, California, he was the son of the late George Adam and Ellen (McDonough) Fleckenstein. He was the husband of the late Angela Joan (Valente) Fleckenstein who died in 1993.

Don graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.S. in engineering. Don was a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy during WWII. He then worked at Lawrence Laboratories for the Atomic Energy Commission at U.C Berkeley. Don then moved to Lancaster to work for RCA as a contract administrator for 30 years. He was a member at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Don enjoyed dancing, bowling, and golf.

Don is survived by 2 sons; Gary Fleckenstein husband of Karen of Elizabethtown and Mark Fleckenstein husband of Lori of Lancaster. A daughter; Joan Deen wife of Peter of Nottingham, Pa. And 4 Grandchildren; Andy, Abby, Lia, and Matt. He is preceded in death by a brother; Alanson Fleckenstein.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 22, 2008 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church 601 E. Delp Rd Lancaster 17601 at 11:15 a.m. with Msgr. Richard Youtz as celebrant. Friends will be received before the service from 10-11:15 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home 393-9661 in charge of arrangements.
