Earl James Freeman, Jr.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Earl James Freeman Jr., aged 83, who entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2026. Born on August 12, 1942, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Don and Dorothy Rhoads.

A devoted husband, Earl is survived by his loving wife, Susan Freeman, with whom he shared more than 37 years of countless cherished moments. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with love and laughter. Earl’s zest for life was evident in his numerous hobbies, particularly his enjoyment of tailgating at Penn State football games, where he relished the camaraderie of fellow fans, often in the comfort of his beloved RV. He also found solace in traveling across the United States, exploring new places, and creating lasting memories.

In December of 1960, Earl enlisted in the United States Army Reserves and faithfully served his county until December of 1966.

In addition to his love for travel, Earl was an avid golfer, frequently enjoying rounds at Meadia Heights. His gentle spirit and friendly demeanor endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. A faithful member of St. James Catholic Church, Earl's faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him through both joyous and challenging times.

Earl is survived by his loving wife Susan, his children, Teri Denierio, wife of Jeremy of Gainesville, FL, and Kimberly Good of Cocoa, FL; and siblings, Linda Hafer (the late Jeff Hafer), Diane Rhoads, Carol Cyphers, and Kevin Rhoads (Stacy). A private graveside service will be held at Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Earl’s name to the American Legion in Lititz, 109 N. Broad St. Lititz, PA 17543.
