E. "Turk" Tangert

E. “Turk” Tangert was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 9, 2026, due to complications from strokes.

Born June 6, 1949, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Anna Tangert.

Turk graduated from J.P. McCaskey in 1967. He served his country during the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he lived in Wyoming and Arizona for a while. He then returned to Lancaster and worked for J.B. Van Sciver and retired from Hempfield School District. He was a longtime member of Trinity EC Church. He enjoyed hunting and traditional archery and working on his 1939 Pontiac Street Rod. Most of all, he loved the Lord and was always willing to share his faith and how the Lord had blessed him. He felt blessed to marry the love of his life and his best friend, Cindy.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy (White); his stepson, Christopher Roberts; his brother-in-law, Greg C. White and wife, Jean White; and his companion and dog, Samson who was his “little buddy.”

Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate Turk’s life and the memories they shared with him from 2PM to 4PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584.

Turk’s family wishes to thank all their friends for their prayers and support. They would also like to thank the Lancaster General Hospital staff 5-Lime and 8-Lime and the hospice staff for their loving care.
