Dorothy J. Schopf

Dorothy J. (Ament) Schopf went home to be with her heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the age of 95. She was the daughter of the late Gertrude Boll Ament Longendeffer and Henry S. Ament.

Dorothy was the wife of Leroy H. Schopf for 31 years. In the year 1980 at the age of 53, Leroy succumbed to cancer.

Surviving her are son Larry R. Schopf (husband of Linda A. Frey Schopf); daughter Fay M. Berdiner; and daughter Phyllis A. Rice (wife of Steven “Steve” Rice). Preceding her in death are her brother James L. Ament (husband of the late Margie) and their son Robert; sister Nancy F. Bridges (wife of the late Don) and their son Scott; and son in law Jay M. Funk.

Dorothy was a member of the Kready Avenue Church in Millersville, PA. In 2013 she transferred her membership to the Grace Community Church in Willow Street.

She leaves behind her 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and another due any day.

Dorothy had a special passion for flowers, so her desire would be to send flowers to someone special to you. Or you may send a monetary gift to the Water Street Mission, 210 S Prince St., Lancaster, PA. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her amazing hospice caretakers Brittany and Sherry, as well as the dedicated care team at Providence Place.

A private burial by the family will take place at the Creswell Cemetery in Conestoga, PA.
