Dorothy (Dot) L. Marks passed peacefully at Moravian Manor Monday, May 4, 2026.
Dot was born September 15, 1929, in New Holland, PA to Charles Hiram Brown and Lilian Richards Brown. The widow of Edwin I. Marks, she is survived by the joys of her life: her daughters Diane L. Houser and Janis L. Taft and their partners Robert Gilliland and Richard D. Taft.
She’s survived by granddaughter Shelby L. Houser and Devin Graham and grandson Greg Houser and wife Betsy Seymour, great granddaughter Tayler J. Dawsey and KD Dawsey. She was Gammy Dot to great-great granddaughter Leona Hayes and Ace Dawsey.
Dot was preceded in death by sisters Helen Brubaker and Irene Brown and brother Charles Brown. She's survived by Niece Ann Tennis and Nephew Paul Brown.
A career woman ahead of her time, Dot worked in banking in Lancaster County. She joined Commonwealth National Bank as a teller in 1967, eventually working her way up to branch manager.
Dot was a friend to all. You could be sure if you sat her down on a bench at Park City you would come back to find her chatting up a new pal. She maintained lifelong friendships with the class of 1947, loved to dance and could make a story you'd heard a thousand times sound fresh every telling. Her happiest times were with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to Moravian Manor Benevolent Care Fund, 300 W. Lemon St, Lititz, PA 17543.
