Dorothy J Keith

On October 12, 2026, our community lost 80-year-old Dorothy J. Keith, a tenacious army wife, supportive mother, loving sister, devoted daughter, and a formidable card-playing grandmother. Dotty adored her parents, the late Raymond and Dorothy (Lloyd) Stringfellow and her hometown of Carlisle, PA. Her fabulous style was honed at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX where she thrived as a Delta Gamma and received a Bachelor of Arts. Throughout her 52-year marriage to the late Colonel John F. Keith (Ret.), Dotty traveled the world from Davis, CA to Stuttgart, Germany. Please think of her the next time you have a Butterfinger, her love of them was legendary.

Her beauty, wit, diligence, and resilience will be missed by her children: Kristen Hessen wife of Corey of Reisterstown, MD, Tim Keith husband of Megan of Suwanee, GA and Jessica Keith of Phoenixville, PA. Grammie Dee’s tacos and endless willingness to visit Rock City will be missed by her six grandchildren: Carter, Cooper, Stella, Sloane, Mason, and Davis. Her love of family will be missed by her sister Martha Peterson and her mother Dorothy Stringfellow both of Carlisle, PA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Stringfellow.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from 10am-11:30am at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584 on Friday, October 16, 2026. On Tuesday, October 20 from 10am-11:30am, a subsequent viewing will be held at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd, Carlisle, PA 17013. A brief service will commence at 11:30am.
