Dorothy Eckenrod

Dorothy (Dottie) M. Eckenrod Dorothy M. Eckenrod, 89, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Lancaster Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Coatesville on July 23, 1937 to John and Charlotte Griffith Landis, Dottie grew up in Modena before moving to Lancaster City. She was married to the late Charles (Sonny) Eckenrod, who passed away in 1985. 

She resided at Lancaster House North before moving to Lancaster Nursing and Rehab in 2023. Over the years, Dottie worked as an office cleaner in the Griest Building and the Lancaster Co. Courthouse. She was a bar tender and a member of numerous social clubs in the city. 

She enjoyed country music, and attended concerts at Sunset Park in Oxford, where she saw many big name artists. She would often be at Central Market on days when it was open. In her later years she attended church services with friends. 

Dottie is survived by her children: George Clevenstine (Jane Stoltzfus), Karen Kilgore (James), Randy Clevenstine and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by stepchildren Rick Eckenrod and Peggy Beam and families. Her sons, David McLaughlin, Keith Clevenstine, and Daryl Clevenstine, and step-son Gary Eckenrod, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are her parents, John and Charlotte Landis, and siblings, John Landis Jr., Betty Myers, Mary Farris, Anne Shay, and Harry Landis, and her former husband, George L Clevenstine. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery, Coatesville, PA.
