Donald Edward Shuman

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald "Don" E. Shuman announces his passing on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the age of 74.

Born on March 8, 1952, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Don was the son of the late Amos and Blanche Shuman. He was born and raised in Lancaster County and later spent many years residing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

While living in Florida, Don worked as a ground testing engineer before being promoted to inspector. After returning to Lancaster, he worked at Y.T.I., where he eventually retired. During his time there, he received the prestigious Beacon Award for excellence and outstanding leadership.

Don was also a dedicated member of the 521 Club of Lancaster, where he touched the lives of many fellow members through his kindness and friendship.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Mary Kay Nafe; his daughter, Renee Shurman; and his sister, Patricia Shuman Ramos.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his siblings: Lois Daily of Lancaster, John Shuman of Keego Harbor, Michigan, and Marie Laughman and Kenneth Shuman, both of Lancaster.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
