Dolores H. Shearman, 94, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at her residence at The Glen at Willow Valley.
She was the beloved wife of the late William P. Shearman, with whom she shared nearly 70 years of marriage before his passing on May 20, 2025.
Born in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, in 1931, Dolores was the eldest daughter of the late John F. and Sabina (Hazinski) Holup.
Mrs. Shearman devoted 19 years to teaching elementary education in the Monroe-Woodbury School District in Orange County, New York. She was a beloved teacher who touched the lives of countless children and families through her compassion, patience, and dedication to education.
Dolores was known for her kindness, strong Catholic faith, and devotion to her family. She touched the lives of many through her gentle spirit, warm heart, and unwavering love for those around her. Her greatest joy was caring for her family and creating a home filled with love, faith, and cherished memories.
She is survived by her children: Sharon and husband Robert; Joyce Reynolds (Gary) of Tulsa, OK; Richard Shearman (Linda) of Schnecksville, PA; and Beth Darling (Randy) of Afton, OK; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Geraldine Cooper, Sandra Ferko, and Patricia Schwenk.
In addition to her husband William, she was preceded in death by her brothers: John, Joseph, Raymond, Ronald, and Daniel Holup.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place afterward at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster.
